University of Johannesburg

The relationship between the University of Johannesburg and the people of Manica stretched back to 2004, when UJ was still known as RAU. The project was originally housed in the department of Community Engagement, and has since been under the care of UJ Sport.

The following UJ Departments have been directly involved with Manica, either through teaching and learning, or through visits or research:

UJ Sport: Four visits, equipment, tour hosting, training, financial control

Department of  Finance and Investment Management: Capacity and Financial Contributions

Department of Communication-Honours Class Assignment

FADA: Architecture-Built change rooms and made 3 visits

FADA: Industrial Design- Stove technology research

FADA: Graphic Design- designed the new GDM logo!

UJ SIFE: Visit teaching entrepreneurship

Department of Movement Studies: Research project

Library: old computers

UJ Soccer, Athletics and Health office: visit to Manica

UJ donated R60 000 for the roof of the training centre

UJ Vehicles in Manica: Toyota Stallion, Mercedes Bus, Mitsubishi Canter
